We all hope the New Year will be a special year for you and your families.  Here at QGS and Terry’s Long-Arm Quilting we are looking forward to continue our same good service, to bring you new ideas, and to provide good quality fabric to make your quilting adventures pleasant.  We have some new features and some new and some old favorite classes being offered this winter which are outlined below.  Give us a call or check out our website which we hope will inspire you to create some quilting memories.  (Oops…our website and email had some technical problems over the Christmas holidays.  We apologize for any inconvenience.)

But first a note from Terry about her Annual Sale:
“I have proclaimed January as "The Holidays Are Over.  It's Time To Get Back To Quilting Month" and to reward you, I am offering my penny-an-inch sale.  Catch up on you unfinished quilt tops and bring them in on February 1, 2008 from 9:30am until 5:30pm ONLY and pay only a penny for each square inch of quilting.  Choose from any "standard" pattern (come see them at QGS).  Discounts will apply to "premium" patterns.  No other discounts will apply.  No punch cards.  This is my best sale of the year so take advantage of it.”  Special Restrictions:  This is a one day only sale.  No early quilts will be accepted for the sale price since I don’t have storage room (sorry!).  Quilts and backing must be pressed and stay stitched.  Backing must be 4” larger than the top on all 4 sides.  If you prefer, I can do these things for you but I need to charge $20 per quilt top to provide these services.  Just so you know, Sharon offers you a 15% discount on backings and battings for the quilts I do for you.

And an invitation from Diane, Donna, and Terry:
Join the club!  Quilter's General Store is delighted to announce Kaye Wood's Tool Club.  Think of the NEW Kaye Wood with great techniques to make intricate looking patterns EASY!!  (for a good example, see the Gallery on the web site).  On the 2nd Thursday of each month, beginning on February 14, 2008, we will be meeting from 10:00am till 2:00pm.  We’ll start with a heart pattern of course!  The club will include techniques for making the most difficult looking pattern fast and easy.  Best of all,  IT'S FREE!!!  No class fee.  Tools, patterns and fabric will be offered at a discount to club members but since the club is free, we require that supplies for club projects be purchased from QGS.  Club membership is limited.  Registration is required, so sign up early!

When it’s cold and snowy outside, Quilter’s General Store is warm and cozy inside!!  You can Sit, Sew and Sip Soup…our Sit and Sew day is Tuesday when you can work on your current project, a charity project (we have many to give you) and/or relax with other quilters starting at 10am.  Stay as long as you like.  Once a month (usually the first Tuesday of the month), we invite you to Sit and Sew and enjoy a hearty soup lunch (what could be better on a cold winter day?).  January 8 will be our first lunch date followed by February 5 and March 4.  Special bonus:  receive a 10% off coupon good for all your purchases that day.  Remember, we meet every Tuesday but lunch will be provided only on these special Tuesdays.  Mark your calendar!!

Your favorite Flannel Fridays will continue during January and February.  Flannel cut from the bolt will be 20% off ( 1 yard minimum cut) and flannel fat quarters will be $2.25 (rather than $2.75).  This is a great time to stock up on your winter project stash!!

We are still featuring a
Bolt of Fabric at 20% off each week as well as a Notion of the Week at 15% off.  These fabrics and notions change every Monday.

Our
Gigantic Super Bowl Sale will kick off on Sunday, February 3, 1pm till 5pmEverything will be marked down some amount.  We’ll have door prizes each quarter - (each hour).  Refreshments and fun will be the play of the day.  There will be hidden footballs which signal a special savings on that bolt of fabric.  We will also have a basket of goodies to be given away at the end of the day.  For every $10 spent, you will receive one chance for this basket and if you wear a sports jersey, you’ll get an extra chance.  If we have a blizzard the day of the sale, we will re-schedule the sale to the following Sunday but call the store to be sure.  This will be one super sale…Super Sale IV !!

The
Jo Morton Club continues to meet on the third Saturday of the month and the Wednesday of that week from 10am until Noon.  The next dates are January 16 and 19, February 13 and 16, March 12 and 15, and April 16 and 19.  A new club will be forming in June.

Delphine is planning a
weekend retreat in early March at the Olde Homestead Bed and Breakfast in Sparr, Michigan (Sparr is a suburb of Gaylord).  The planned project will be a quick Nine-Patch quilt from pre-cut kits in either 1800 style or contemporary fabrics.  You can sign up for the project or just work on a project of your own choosing.  Call the store after January 15 for the date and more information.

CLASSES

We have many exciting new classes this term.  If the class fee is under $30, that class does not require a minimum student enrollment.  The classes costing $30 or more will require a minimum enrollment.  Please make note of that while selecting your classes.  Class fees
MUST BE PAID in order to sign up for the class.  Please check with the store prior to class for any updates or changes.

Note:   The "+" indicates quilting competence:  + = beginner, ++ = intermediate, etc.  Refunds:  you must cancel no less than one week prior to the class to receive an in-store credit or have the money applied to a future class.  Classes may require the purchase of a pattern or book as well as other supplies.  Most classes require you to bring your sewing machine that it is in good working order and you must be familiar with its operation.  A 15% thank you coupon will be given to each student upon completion of the class.  This coupon is good for your entire purchase (sale items, consignment items, and class fees excluded) on the day you choose to shop.  Also, if you bring a friend to join you in a class, you and your friend will receive a $5 off coupon from Terry to have your project quilted by her.
