*NEW* Christmas Club - ANTIQUE CHRISTMAS MEMORIES
by Judy Hansen. Each month for 6 months, you will have 2 blocks
to complete so that  you will have all your blocks completed and
ready for borders by early November. The project includes all the
fabric for the quilt top (58” x 72”) including sashing, borders, and
binding, plus the pattern book that also contains other projects
using the same blocks. The club will meet once a month with
Diane Schlak, who will guide you through the blocks for that month,
and you’ll have time for in-class sewing. The club will be held the
FIRST Saturday of the month from 10am until 1pm
BEGINNING July 5th. We did a similar Christmas project last year
(the gals loved it) and those of you who hadn’t joined, and wished that you
had!! Here’s your chance again!! Cost: $130 includes kit (all fabrics and
pattern book) and club meetings or $110 for kit only. Kits are now available
for purchase. Call the store or come in to sign up as soon as possible
so you don’t miss out!

The
Kaye Wood’s Tool Club will have their next meeting on Thursday, June 12, from 10am until 2pm.  The new project will be “Circles”.  Members will learn techniques for making the most difficult looking pattern fast and easy and IT'S FREE!!! (no class fee) Tools, patterns and fabric will be offered at a discount to club members but since the club is free, we require that supplies for club projects be purchased from QGS.  There
are still openings in the club but registration is required, so sign up early!  Call NOW!!!  Bring your lunch or order in.

Jo Morton Club
The next session of the
Jo Morton Club will begin on June 14.  We will
meet the
SECOND SATURDAY of the month from 10am until 12pm
(no Wednesday meetings this session).  We will be using Pattern Set #6
(6 projects) for this club and continue to meet for 6 months.  The cost to
join the club is $30 which entitles you to the pattern for each meeting, a
demonstration and sometimes a hands-on workshop of the project, a
show and tell of antique quilts and “quilty things", a FQ of your choice and
more!  Delphine is adding a bonus project to the club - a Paper Pieced log
cabin plus one meeting will be devoted to teaching hand piecing.  New
members are required to purchase a packet of 24 FQs of the Yorktown
collection while returning members will purchase a packet of 24 Fat Eighths
of the Yorktown collection.  FYI - Jo Morton (yes, there really is a Jo Morton)
has dictated that pattern sets are no longer available for purchase once that
6-month session has ended.  Following the completion of each session,
QGS will only be able to offer kits of the individual projects (fabric plus
instructions for one project).  Sign up today!  Get a car pool together and
enjoy the day with your new Jo Morton friends.
The pictures to the right are from pattern set #5.

Events:

Bed & Breakfast Weekend - Looking for a quiet weekend away with quilting friends this summer? Quilter’s General Store will assist you in setting up a lovely weekend at the Olde Homestead Bed and Breakfast in Sparr (a suburb of Gaylord). The weekend begins on Friday at 2pm and concludes on Sunday at 9am. The cost is $90 per person which includes 5 meals and a shared room. Please call the shop for more information.

Heart of the Pines Quilt Show - Friday and Saturday, October 31 and November 1. Treetops Resort, Gaylord.

The Sit and Sew Group continues to meet every Tuesday starting at 10am. You can work on your current project, a pre-cut charity project or just relax with other quilters. Won’t you join us?

The
Quilt Givers Club creates blocks for charity quilts. The next gathering will be later on this summer…details to follow in the next newsletter. The group meets from 10am until 4pm. Lunch will be provided and everyone is invited. If you can give one hour or six, we would appreciate your help.

Richard, the
sewing machine repair man, will be here on Friday, June 20. Bring your machines in before Friday. He offers a one-day service for cleaning, tune-ups, and minor repairs. For more serious repairs, he will contact you to discuss your options. Call the store (989-732-1252) for more information.

Bob, the
scissor guy, will be here Thursday, June 12, to sharpen scissors or knives (no serrated blades).  Items must be brought to the store by or on June 10.

Katrina Miller, the store's web-master, is Delphine’s 20-year-old daughter. Katrina has worked at the store off and on while in high school and during summer break from college, so some of you may have met her at the store. This summer she is bicycling almost 4000 miles cross-country, along with 219 other cyclists, to raise awareness and funds to End the Cycle of Poverty here in the USA and overseas. The Christian Reformed Church of North America is organizing the bike tour. If you wish, you may donate to this worthy cause on-line here. Donations may also be made at the store. More information about the tour can be found on the tour's website: www.seatosea.org

To help raise funds for this cause, the store will be selling re-usable totes for $5 each and glow-in-the-dark wristbands for $3 each.

There will be a Bake Sale at the Gaylord Glen's on June 14th to benefit the bike tour charities.  All proceeds will go to missions and poverty relief.  Your donation is welcome for this worthwhile cause.

The
Yorktown line of fabric designed by Jo Morton for Andover is arriving weekly.

Check out the Browse section for more new items!

Other News:

Our 2007-08
Block of the Month is done. The last packets were distributed in April for the Appliqué Quilt and in May for the Pieced Blocks. Be sure to pick up your packets - a few of you are a few months behind. This is also a good time to select your backing and binding. There are a few complete kits available for sale.

Those of you planning a trip west this summer, be sure to stop at the
International Quilt Study Center that recently opened at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. The building displays 2300 quilts and its façade is designed with glass panels that appear to be stitched together. Go West dear quilters!!
